Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine
The Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum is located in Qianjiang City, Hubei Province, and is expected to be officially completed in July 2025. The museum covers an area of approximately 2000 square meters, with an exhibition area of 1500 square meters, and houses over a thousand exhibits. As a comprehensive museum integrating culture, history, and science, it uses rich and diverse exhibits to comprehensively showcase the profoundness of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
In the brilliant galaxy of Chinese civilization, TCM is like an eternally shining pearl, embodying the extraordinary wisdom of the Chinese nation's millennia-long struggle against disease and carrying the profound philosophical thought of harmony between man and nature. From the exploration of Shennong tasting hundreds of herbs to the theoretical foundation established by the Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon; from Hua Tuo's Wu Qin Xi (Five Animal Frolics) health-strengthening wisdom to Li Shizhen's monumental Compendium of Materia Medica, TCM has always been inextricably linked to the destiny of the nation.
The ancient medical books, mottled medical instruments, and rare specimens treasured in the museum silently tell the story of TCM's past and present. Each exhibit is a testament to history, and each piece of text contains the philosophical thoughts of life. The exhibition vividly presents the development context, outstanding figures, academic schools, classic medical works, and ingenious prescriptions of TCM through historical relics, ancient books and documents, and graphic panels. Visitors will witness how TCM has been passed down and innovated throughout the ages: from ancient mortars and copper scrapers to modern intelligent diagnostic systems; from herbs in the mountains and fields to the extraction of active ingredients in laboratories—tradition and modernity blend and collide here, demonstrating the powerful vitality of TCM. The carefully designed scene restoration, interactive exhibits, and audio-visual technology bring this historical scroll to life, allowing visitors to gain a deep understanding of the long history and extraordinary value of TCM.
The completion of the Houde Zukang TCM Museum not only provides the public with a hall for immersive experience of TCM culture, but also shoulders the historical mission of inheriting national quintessence and promoting its development. As an important TCM cultural production, education, and research collaborative innovation base in Qianjiang City, the museum is committed to promoting the deep integration of academic research, industrial incubation, and talent cultivation. We actively respond to the national policy of introducing TCM into schools and carefully build a science popularization education base for teenagers, igniting the interest and love of the next generation in TCM through interactive experiences that combine education with entertainment. At the same time, the museum is actively promoting the application of its treasured collections and core techniques for intangible cultural heritage, contributing solid strength to safeguarding this precious national life wisdom. Through these series of measures, the Houde Zukang TCM Museum is striving to become a comprehensive cultural hub connecting history and the future, integrating academia and the public, safeguarding tradition and inspiring innovation, allowing the roots of TCM to flourish even more vigorously in the new era.
